Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation Post-Secondary Education Scholarships
The Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting 4-H youth development programming in Maine. The Foundation's Post-Secondary Education Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of demonstrated academic and 4-H excellence.
Qualified candidates must be: 1) a current member of 4-H (enrolled by December 31, 2007) who is currently active in 4-H activities; and 2) a graduating senior or an individual who has graduated from high school, but has delayed going to a post-secondary school for no more than one year. Candidates are only eligible to apply in the spring prior to entering post-secondary education.
The deadline for submitting applications typically falls within the first two weeks of March. Scholarships are awarded at the Foundation's Annual Meeting in May. For an application, please visit the Foundation's web site at: www.umaine.edu/4hfoundation/funding.htm.

Wayne S. Rich Scholarship ($1,000)
Wayne Rich was a 4-H agent and longtime supporter of 4-H. He was originally from Maine and relocated in New Hampshire. The Wayne S. Rich Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Maine or New Hampshire 4-Her for post-secondary study. It is available to a Maine student on odd numbered years and goes to a New Hampshire student through their 4-H Foundation on even numbered years.
Parker-Lovejoy Scholarship ($1,000)
Theda Parker was a generous supporter of 4-H who made a bequest to the Foundation, and Kenneth C. Lovejoy, more commonly known as "K.C.", provided more than 63 years of working service to Maine 4-H. Mr. Lovejoy was a 4-H agent, a State 4-H Club Leader, and for 27 years served as a post-retirement volunteer Director of the Foundation. He resides in Florida. The Parker-Lovejoy Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Maine 4-Her for post-secondary study.
Claude F. Clement Scholarship (2 - $1,000)
Claude Clement was one of the first people to serve as President of the 4-H Foundation. He was a strong fundraiser for 4-H and believed in community and civic involvement. Two Claude F. Clement Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding Maine 4-H members for post-secondary study.
Verna Church Witter Scholarship ($1,000)
Verna Church Witter served as an accountant for the 4-H Foundation and handled its finances for many dedicated years. Her interests included home economics, art, and crafts. The Verna Church Witter Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Maine 4-Her for post-secondary study.
Azure Dillon 4-H Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)
Azure Dillon was an outstanding young 4-Her from Penobscot county. Azure had a flock of Southdown sheep which she showed at fairs for many years. She was also an accomplished harpist and an excellent student. The Azure Dillon Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Maine 4-Her for post-secondary study.
Evelyn L. Trotzky Scholarship ($1,000)
Evelyn Trotzky was a former Director of the 4-H Foundation who loved young people. Politics was one of her many interests; Ms. Trotzky was also an advocate for the Adopt-a-Highway program. The Evelyn L. Trotzky Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Maine 4-Her for post-secondary study.
The Gladys E. Conant Memorial Farm Credit 4-H Scholarship ($1,000)
The Farm Credit of Maine Scholarship is awarded to a Maine 4-Her planning to continue their post-secondary education at a Maine institution and whose objective is to major in a field related to commercial farming, fishing, or forest products, or in another field with the intent to work in businesses related to these industries.
Doris Roberts, H. Lawrence, and George Lawrence Humphrey 4-H Scholarship ($500)
The newest of the Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation 4-H Scholarships, The Doris Roberts, H. Lawrence, and George Lawrence Humphrey 4-H Scholarship Endowment was established at in 2005, with a gifts donated in the memory of Doris Roberts Humphrey, H. Lawrence Humphrey and George Lawrence Humphrey by Ms. Gene Doris Humphrey of Gray, Maine.
