Maine 4-H Animal Science Committees
State Coordinator
Roles & Responsibilities
Role:
work with Animal Science Committee (ASC) Staff Liaisons and Activity Coordinators, and support staff in the State 4-H Office (S4HO) to support the work of the ASC's in developing and implementing educational programs for Maine 4-H members interested in a particular animal species
supervise ASC-related work done by S4HO Support Staff
Responsibilities:
provide oversight and leadership for 4-H Youth Development animal science programs in Maine
provide leadership for convening and conducting semi-annual statewide meetings of the ASC's
develop a timeline of ESE-related tasks, delegate appropriate tasks to S4HO Support Staff; monitor timeline to ensure timely completion of tasks
serve as contact with appropriate UMCE Specialists
support good communications among ASC Staff Liaisons and Activity Coordinators and the S4HO
support conflict resolution among ASC members, Activity Coordinators, and Staff Liaisons as needed
provide training to ASC Activity Coordinators as needed
collaborate with ASC Staff Liaisons and Activity Coordinators to develop the annual Eastern States Exposition (ESE) budget
work with the ASC Staff Liaisons, Activity Coordinators, and Treasurers to ensure accurate and complete financial records and timely reporting to the S4HO and Pine Tree State 4-H Foundation
collaborate with ASC members in conducting try-outs for
and taking a team to Eastern States Exposition (ESE), including but not
limited to:
- determining the process for selecting team members
- working with ASC members and the S4HO, assisting with
making arrangements for transportation of team members and animals to ESE
- during ESE, being available as a contact person in case of
emergency
work with the ASC Staff Liaison and S4HO Support Staff to notify Activity Coordinators of any team member who has not paid fees or made arrangement for payment of fees associated with participation in ESE
coordinate staff coverage of ESE in collaboration with Staff Liaisons and other UMCE staff
