4-H Dairy Judging Contest and Eastern States Judging Team Selection

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Tryouts for the 4-H Dairy Judging Team will be held on Saturday April 18 in Penobscot County. The top four qualified youth will be selected to compete on the Eastern States 4-H Dairy Judging Team. Bring a clipboard and a pencil and be ready to judge.

Schedule of Events:

9:00 AM - Contest Registration
9:30  AM - Brown Swiss Judging – Gilrock Farms (George Nuite)
10:30 AM - Travel to Simpson View Farm in Corinna
11:00 AM - Holstein Judging
12:00 Noon – Oral Reasons and Lunch (provided)
1:30 PM – Jersey Judging
2:30 PM – Results

3:00 PM – Return home

Directions to Gilrock Farms, 976 Silver Mills Road, Sangerville, ME.
Proceed on I-95 to Exit 157 (Newport)
Turn North onto Maine Route 100/11 toward Newport and Dexter
At the stoplight in Newport where Route 2 intersects, continue north (straight) on Route 11/7 toward Corinna and Dexter.
Continue north on route 11/7 to Corinna, approximately 6 miles.
In Corinna, stay on Route 7 north and continue to Dexter, approximately 8 miles
At the stop light in Dexter continue straight on Route 7 North for approximately 4 miles.
Turn left on to Silver Mills Road
Continue on Silver Mills Road 2.5 to Gilrock Farms.
