The Center for Caregiver Education is a web based, self-guided, self paced learning environment designed to be of value to:
informal and family caregivers... including elder caregivers, grandparents parenting, and parents of a disabled adult that lives with the parents,
formal caregivers, and
caregiver educators... including, but not limited to social service providers.
Definitions:
A caregiver is anyone who provides assistance to someone else who is ill or disabled and in need of help.
Informal caregivers and family caregivers are unpaid individuals such as family members, friends, and neighbors who provide care for an ill or disabled person.
Formal caregivers are volunteers or paid care providers associated with a social service delivery system.
Primary caregivers are individuals that frequently provide the majority of the hands-on care, make most of the personal care decisions, and coordinate most of the personal care services to meet the needs of an ill or disabled person.
A care recipient is the person that receives care from someone else.
Caregiver educators provide information, training, and technical assistance to caregivers.
