A six-part workshop series designed to teach citizens to effectively lead community groups |
Strengthening Your Facilitation Skills, Level 2 objectives:
Deepen knowledge of the core facilitation competencies;
Observe
facilitation challenges such as constant change, competing priorities, changing
team members, limited time and
carefully guarded resources;
Practice skills in an experiential setting and receive feedback in a safe environment;
Commit to building the capacity of your community;
Explore new learning boundaries;
Share teaching responsibility
Series framework reflects the IAF (International Association of Facilitators) six foundational facilitator competencies:
Creating collaborative client relationships;
Planning appropriate group processes;
Creating and sustaining a participatory environment;
Guiding the group to appropriate and useful outcomes;
Building and maintaining professional knowledge;
Modeling a positive professional attitude.
Facilitate or lead a group at least once per month;
Completed the Strengthening Your Facilitation Skills, Level 1 series or its equivalent;
Lead or co-lead one or more components of the advanced series;
Willing to discuss your growth and growing edges with the group;
Agree to honor all participants’ requests for confidentiality;
Attend all sessions (we acknowledge that life happens);
Willing to give back to the community in one or more ways, such as:
Facilitating a group of which you are not a member
Writing an article
Mentoring about facilitating
Helping to teach Level 1

Jane brings nearly 20 years of experience in the design and implementation of experiential community development programs for youth and adults. Over the years she has launched several innovative Extension programs, from Voices, a school-based enrichment program for teens, to the Mid-Coast Home-Based Business Conference, the first statewide conference for home-based business owners in Maine, to producing and hosting Doing Business, a live, public affairs radio show. As a result of her community facilitation work, her latest innovation is the collaborative creation of Strengthening Your Facilitation Skills, Levels 1 and 2. Jane is working collaboratively to research the societal impact of having skilled community facilitators. She is a member of the International Association of Facilitators and the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals. |
Louise brings over twenty-five years of experience working with individuals, organizations and community groups as a facilitator, educator, consultant and coach strengthening leadership capacity to bring about social change. She is a catalyst for personal and group awakening, calling forth the potential and innate wisdom of people and groups. Louise is a member of the International Association of Facilitators, the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals, the International Coach Federation, and the Coaches Alliance of Maine. |
