Washington County Extension Association Annual Meeting

The Washington County Extension Association's 2007 Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 5 p.m. at the Jonesboro Elementary School Gymnasium. 

Holly Garner-Jackson received the Norman W. Duzen Community Service Award. Holly has made many contributions to the citizens of Washington County. She is a fundraiser and supporter of the ARK Animal Shelter, Founder of the Blackfly Breeders Association, advocate and fundraiser for Down East Aids Network and outstanding community member. She has helped raised thousands of dollars and helped countless Washington County citizens. 

The Leon Look Award was presented to Fred Hartman of Whiting. Fred has demonstrated outstanding leadership with the Washington County Extension Association and the planning team for the Washington County Business Conference and Marketplace. 

The University of Maine Pen Awards were presented to Georgiana Kendall for her contributions to the Washington County Extension Association and the Washington County Business Conference. Marty Shaw of Harrington received a Pen Award for her commitment to the Washington County Senior Companion Program as a volunteer station coordinator and strong advocate for the program. Ellen Small of Whiting was awarded a Pen Award for her commitment to the Washington County Senior Companion Program as a Advisory Committee member, treasurer and Volunteer Station Coordinator. Marilee Dennison, an educator from Ft. O’Brien School in Machiasport also received a University of Maine Pen Award for her outstanding contributions to the Eat Well Nutrition Program and the Healthy Snack Program through the Maine Nutrition Network.

 Deborah Bailey of Barnstormer Design  was awarded with the Extension Business Leadership in Action Award. Deborah is an outstanding web designer who has contributed a great deal to the Washington County business community.

The 4-H Summer Youth Camp was the featured program at the Annual Meeting.  Three youth leaders, Bryan Albee, Matt Talbot and Allison Talbot will talk about their experiences working with young campers in 2006.
