Job Description
Position Summary:
As a member of the
Washington County Executive Committee, you will help local Extension staff to
plan, promote, develop, implement, and evaluate Extension programs, which meet
the needs and interests of area residents.
Responsibilities:
1.
Familiarize yourself with and support the faculty and staff of the
Washington County Extension Office.
2.
Attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings (generally 1st
Tuesday of the month from 4:00-6:00 p.m. or another time agreed upon by the
committee).
3.
Actively participate on a sub-committee such as: public relations, annual
meeting, finance, fundraising, program planning and review.
4.
Develop and prepare the county Plan of Work, consulting with faculty
members.
5.
As necessary, make recommendations in selecting faculty, staff and
evaluating current programming.
6.
Prepare, secure and oversee the operations of the county budget.
7.
Promote the work of Extension through citizens, county commissioners,
legislators and other community leaders.
Time of Commitment:
Election of officers of the board is held in April of each year. The commitment is for a three-year term unless specified otherwise. Board meetings are usually held every first Tuesday of the month from 4-6 p.m. Most committees meet monthly at a time convenient to their members.
Qualifications:
· Interest in Cooperative Extension
· General knowledge of people, their needs and issues in your geographic area
· Specific skills, knowledge and expertise as sought by the Nominating Committee.
