Making Sense of Science Camp

Summer 2006

Sixty-one youth between the ages of six and nine attended our day camps held in Dennysville and Whitneyville during the month of July.  Campers spent three days engaging in hands-on science activities led by teen youth leaders.  Activities such as the Smelling Game, the Big Taste Test, Color Streamers and “Coffee” Dough gave campers the opportunity to learn about their five senses.  In addition to the experiments, youth made tie-dye t-shirts, prepared and enjoyed healthy meals, and enjoyed physical activities and creative art projects. A Science Skill-a-thon and a visit from Ruth Perry, the Maine Science Lady rounded out the busy week.
