The University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s Fun with Food 4-H Camp hosted 23 campers in Whitneyville. With a theme of food safety, campers participated in a variety of science experiments to help them learn about safe food handling, the importance of hand washing and how to use a meat thermometer to determine when meat has reached a safe temperature for eating. One of the highlights of the week included daily lessons on canning and preserving fresh fruits and vegetables with UMCE Nutrition Associate, Brenda Roberts.
