Primitive Living

campers in a hut made of branches and leavesPrimitive Living students learn natural shelter making and dwelling, primitive and modern fire building, backcountry cooking, the various uses of wild plants, tool making, knife safety and carving, water purification, rope making, tree identification, nature observation, awareness, tracking and silent stalking.

Using the challenges presented by living closely with nature, this course nurtures both self reliance and group problem-solving. Students come away with confidence, kinship, and practical survival skills.
