Farm Tractor Safety Course

Location: Union Farm Equipment, Route 17, Union, Maine.

Course Manual: Participants will be using the tractor safety manual published by Pennsylvania State University.

2008 Farm Tractor Safety Course -- Knox and Lincoln Counties

Classes are free and open to the public (a $5.00 book fee applies)
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 years

Location: Union Farm Equipment, Route 17, Union, Maine.
Date/Time: April 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2008, 6:00 to 8:00 PM;
a written exam and tractor driving test will be held Saturday, May 3, 9:00 a.m.

Register by calling the University of Maine Cooperative Extension at 1-800-244-2104 (in Maine). Registration deadline is March 26.

University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Knox-Lincoln Farm Bureau and Union Farm Equipment will conduct a tractor safety course beginning Wednesday, April 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Union Farm Equipment on Route 17.

Classes will continue on successive Wednesdays through April 30th and a written exam and tractor driving test will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at Union Farm Equipment. The course is free; however, there is a $5.00 charge for the course book.

This course is targeted for those 13 years or older and is required for 14 and 15 year-olds who plan to operate farm equipment for hire on farms other than their own. Participants will be taught how to safely handle tractors and equipment and minimize the chances of accidents. Those who successfully complete the written and road tests will be issued a Federal Certificate of Training. Adults are also welcome.
