Home Based Business Program

"A home-based business can create family income and support you becoming your own boss. Starting a home business is not easy, especially if you have not worked out a viable business management and marketing plan. Also, some reasonable self-assessment will help a prospective business owner understand the skills they bring to growing and managing their business"

There are many pros and cons that any prospective home business owner needs to address before starting a home-based business. Is my business idea really a good fit with me? Is there a market for my product or service?  Is my business product or service economically viable? These are important questions to address first, before investing a dime and a ton of your time.

"Starting a business without a plan is like sailing a ship without a map and compass. You wind up adrift with no direction into the marketplace, or worse, losing money."

This is why Piscataquis County Extension has a Home Business, Information and Education Program.  We are here to help you work through the planning questions that are keys to good management practice. Extension can help you figure things out, to ensure smoother sailing for your home business ideas.
