Maine Senior Farm share Has Over 2,000 Farm Shares Still Available!
Do you know a senior who would like to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, but is unable to afford them? The Maine Department of Agriculture has announced that their Senior Farm Share program has more farm shares available for eligible seniors right now.
A Farm Share is $50 worth of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs during the growing season free from a federal grant. To take part in the Senior Farm Share program you must:
· Be a Maine resident, 60 years old or older (55 if Native American)
· Not be an immediate family member or live in the same household as the farmer
· Meet the income guidelines: $18,889/annual or $1575/month for one-person household; $25,327/annual or $2,111/month for two-person household (each person can get a farm share)
