Make Your Own Newspaper Pots for Starting Seedlings
While you are waiting for the right time to start your seedlings you can start preparing pots to start your seedlings. In the past I have given you directions for making square newspaper pots. Here are directions to make round newspaper pots.
Start with a
heavy bottle that has a concave bottom. (You can use a flat bottomed bottle, but
it is a little harder). Cut newspaper into six inch wide pieces the length of a
section of newspaper. Wrap four layers of newspaper around the bottle. Be sure
to leave at least two inches of newspaper below the bottle’s bottom. Push the
newspaper at the bottom of the bottle up into the little concave part of the
bottle. Slip the newspaper off the bottle and staple to secure. Be sure to put
your newspaper pot on a water proof container or tray since the bottoms of the
pots will disintegrate before the seedlings are ready to transplant.
