The 2009 training sessions for Master Gardeners will be conducted in Piscataquis County in the early spring of 2009 Master Gardeners are expected to do at least 40 hours of volunteer work helping people learn more about home gardening. Current and past Master Gardeners have been busy in Piscataquis County. In the spring Master Gardeners go into the area schools to teach kids the joy of gardening by starting seedlings. During the summer Master Gardeners help maintain flower displays in several towns, also during the summer Master Gardeners help answer gardeners questions at the Extension Office. And later in the summer they help with the 4-H project judging at the Piscataquis Valley Fair in Dover-Foxcroft.
If interested in becoming a Master Gardener, contact the Piscataquis County Extension Office at 207-564-3301 or in Maine 1-800-287-1491 for application materials. Many other counties are offering Master Gardener Trainings throughout the state of Maine.
